McEvolution

I recently read a news article that highlighted a report from the Australian Bureau of Statistics that suggested that the most recent generation of Australians have such a problem with obesity, that they may be the first generation that will statistically have a shorter life span than their parents.

It all kinda reminds me of the Fat Boy Slim video “Right Here, Right Now” which begins 350 billion years ago with the emergence of the single cell organism and follows the evolution of life as it thrusts, powers and charges its way across the millennia, eventually ending up as the walking fat dude with the “I’m #1 so why try harder” t-shirt who breaks into a sweat and has to sit down.

If it wasn’t for the fact that I had a Happy Meal for dinner last night, I’d probably have something meaningful to say on the subject.

(PS – Since the Earth is supposed to be around 4.5 Billion Years old, I’m not sure where Mr Slim came up with the 350 Billion Years Ago figure)
